Father’s day was a busy Sunday for members of the Indiana Fire Association.
The first of three calls for the first responders was at 9:14 AM for a vehicle crash on Route 286 near Hammill Road. According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, the vehicle went off the roadway and hit two parked cars and narrowly missed a house. The driver was not hurt and was able to get out of the vehicle on their own. State police investigated the incident, and the firefighters were assisted by an EMT from Commodore QRS.
Shortly after that, crews were sent to the Holiday Inn on Indian Springs Road for two calls. The first was for a malfunctioning elevator shortly after the crash. Everyone was able to get out on their own. At 10:36 AM, they would return for an automatic fire alarm call as the elevator motor malfunctioned, causing smoke and burnt oil haze. Hotel staff were advised of the issue and the cause.
State police and fire officials from Armagh and Clyde fire departments were also sent out at 9:26 PM to Route 403 South in East Wheatfield Township for a search detail. Details on the search have not been released.
