Steelers tight end Darnell Washington told teammate Cam Heyward on Heyward’s “Not Just Football” podcast yesterday that he’s been told to lose some weight or be fined by the team. He did not say how much he has to drop, but revealed that he played at over 300 pounds last season, not the 264 pounds he was listed at.
Coach Mike McCarthy instituted the weight fines, and Washington says he loves to eat and play video games so he is going to have to do some body work before training camp opens up next month at Saint Vincent. He says he played his first season in Pittsburgh at around 290 pounds.
