The Penguins have re-signed pending restricted free agent goaltender Taylor Gauthier to a one-year, two-way contract extension that carries an $850,000 salary cap hit at the NHL level.
Gauthier played most of the season at Wheeling, where he led the Nailers to the ECHL Eastern Conference finals. He was 21-9-5 in the regular season with a 2.09 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage.
In the postseason, he was 9-8 with three shutouts, a 2.23 goals-against average, and a .922 save percentage.
