The Armstrong-Indiana Intermediate Unit announced this morning that they are the recipients of a $100,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission’s Power Grant program.
The grants focus on coal communities that are going through transitions. ARIN executive director Dr. Matthew Curci said that they have been working on the application for about a year, and they’ve been working with multiple partners on the grant.
Curci talked about how important these grants are.
The $100,000 planning grant will allow them to work collaboratively to do research into what needs to be done for the next steps in the workforce. They also plan on applying for an implementation grant fron the program.
A public forum has been scheduled at the Intermediate Unit Offices from 1-2 PM on July 6th to answer questions on the grant and how it will be used by ARIN.
