The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency has announced over $93 million in investments will be made across the state from the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement Fund. Some of that money will go to a program in Indiana County.
Funding for the PHARE awards comes from impact fees from natural gas companies operating in the state and a portion of the realty transfer tax. PHFA Executive Director and CEO Robin Weissmann said in a news release that they received a lot of applications this year and that they “place a strong emphasis on leveraging PHARE funding with other resources to maximize impacts.”
Indiana County will receive $150,000 for the 55 and up Roof and Heating Systems Replacement Program, which provides financial assistance for income-eligible homeowners aged 55 or older, or those with disabilities, to replace roofs and inoperable heating systems. The program is administered through the County Department of Planning and Development.
