Unable to earn a regular role with the Penguins, forward Joona Koppanen has signed with Lulea of the Swedish Hockey League. He spent three years in the Penguins organization. He became eligible to return to European hockey when Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was eliminated from the American Hockey League Calder Cup playoffs on Sunday.
In 28 games with the Penguins, he had a goal and an assist and a minus-5 plus/minus ranking.
