On their Facebook page, Indiana Borough Police have issued a reminder to young and old about the use of bicycles on roads and sidewalks, noting especially that e-bikes are now part of the community. The police department says it’s “important for riders and parents to understand the rules and regulations, including age requirements, and roadway versus sidewalk use.”
On Indiana In the Morning on WCCS last Tuesday, Lieutenant Eric Slovinsky said, “Everybody has responsibility, even pedestrians” when it comes to following traffic laws. Then on Friday, a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a driver who may have been under the influence in the intersection of 4th and Philadelphia streets. There is no update on his condition as of Sunday morning.
The Facebook post by Borough Police also includes PennDOT’s helpful “PA Micromobility Fact Sheet,” which details the state’s rules and laws for the different modes of transportation. You can check out the micromobility fact sheet by clicking on the link below.
Police urge all to “Please ride safely, follow traffic laws, and stay alert while sharing the road with motorists and pedestrians.”
