A bill concerning unused prescription drugs passed the State House of Representatives unanimously this week.
House bill 69 will amend the Cancer Drug Repository Program Act. It will encourage the donation of unused medicine to pharmacies to be disposed of properly by both individuals and facilities outside of cancer-related drugs. The program will ensure safety by requiring donated drugs to meet strict criteria before being accepted under the program. Participation in the program will remain voluntary.
The bill is now in the Senate Heath and Human Services committee.
