A portion of Philadelphia Street was closed Friday afternoon and evening as authorities investigated a collision involving a pickup truck and a pedestrian.
Police say at 4:12 PM, the truck turned left from the “00” block of South 4th Street going to the 400 block of Philadelphia Street and struck an un-named man who was in the crosswalk. The pedestrian was taken to IRMC by Citizens’ Ambulance and later flown to an area trauma center for further treatment. The victim’s condition is not known at this time.
The driver of the pickup, identified only as a man, was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI. Charges will be filed once the investigation is complete.
Indiana Fire Association, State Police, the DA’s office and Indiana Borough’s Public Works department provided additional assistance on scene. The road reopened a few hours later, but the investigation is continuing.
