The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s School Safety and Security Committee has approved almost $20 million in grants to help educational facilities tackle school violence and improve mental health along with bolstering school security.
The new office will help both public and private schools make sure they have the tools and support they need to prevent threats, strengthen well-being and keeping students and staffers safe. PCCD Executive Director Kristen Kenyon said in a statement that the grants will “further this commitment by helping schools address core safety needs and expand essential mental health services, ensuring every student has a secure, healthy learning environment.”
Five institutions in Indiana County will receive funding from this grant. They include:
- Merakey Pennsylvania –$75,000
- New Story – $23,160
- River Rock Academy – $53,270
- Seeds of Faith Christian Academy – $75,000
- St. Bernard School – $22,800
