Indiana County’s first responders had an early morning with a structure fire call at 2:10 this morning.
Indiana County 911 sent Indiana, Homer City, Coral-Graceton, Creekside and Clymer fire departments to a location on Pratt Drive at that time along with Citizen’s Ambulance and the county EMA team to the Suites on Pratt on IUP’s campus. Fire officials say that the alarm was triggered as an item on a stove top burned causing flames and smoke. A fire extinguisher was used to put it out before crews arrived. All the mutual aid was cancelled, but Indiana remained on scene to ventilate the smoke. Minor fire damage was reported.
Another structure fire was reported yesterday. That call went out at 1:06 PM on Barondale Road in Burrell Township. Blacklick, Blairsville, Homer city and Coral fire departments along with Citizen’s Ambulance were sent out. Fire officials say it was a small fire in a detached garage. It’s believed that there was a burn pile behind the structure and that may have caused the fire. Minimal damage was reported, mainly in the top of the structure. No injuries were reported.
