Leaders with Jeannette City Schools are consider restrictions on student cell phone use for next year.
Directors have given initial approval on a measure that would permit students to use only school-issued devices during instruction time. The rule would apply to all grades, although building principals could allow phones for educational or other reasons.
The board will need to vote in favor of the policy again this month before it can be made official.
