Indiana firefighters have released more information on a fire call yesterday that prompted response from multiple departments.
Indiana County 911 sent the Indiana, Homer City, Creekside, Clymer and Coral-Graceton fire departments out at 1:38 Friday morning to a property on Garman Avenue. Indiana Fire officials say that the multi-department response was due to the fact that it was at an apartment building. Police and fire officials say the residents were safely outside and the fire was out. The cause of the fire call was overheated oil on the stove. Firefighters said the resident used an extinguisher to put the fire out, then turned off the stove, got out and called 911.
Indiana fire crews remained on-scene to ventilate the apartment using fans.
Indiana Firefighters would also be called out at 6:36 in the morning for another fire. This time, a tree caught fire on Ferrier Run Road. Crews arrived and found a hollowed-out tree smoldering with active fire inside. Brush fire crews were able to put it out. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
