Operators of Arnold Palmer Regional Airport are hoping support from the federal government will help lure a new airline.
Officials at the travel hub have applied for assistance through the Small Community Air Service Development Program. The initiative makes grant funding available to carriers that agree to bring service to rural airports, providing payments to keep the airlines from losing money.
Palmer Regional was left without a commercial flight operator following the shutdown of Spirit Airlines.
