The Altoona Curve beat the Hartford Yard Goats 7-6 last night.
The go-ahead run came in the top half of the 9th inning as the Curve reached base with a leadoff single by Duce Gourson, followed by a wild pitch and three straight walks to make it a one-run game. Outfielder Titus Dumitru then hit a two-run double off the right field wall to give the Curve the lead. The Altoona bullpen paid dividends as they sent down 13 straight Hartford batters and struck out six en route to the victory.
The series between the Curve and the Yard Goats continues tonight. Altoona has not yet announced its starter.
