Wednesday night, the Indiana Borough Planning Department held a special public meeting concerning pedestrian safety along the Philadelphia Street Corridor.
The meeting is in response to a pedestrian safety audit conducted by PennDOT Connects in late 2025 and evaluated walking conditions, pedestrian crossings, traffic patterns, accessibility concerns and pedestrian safety risks.
Trajan Jones with the Planning Department said that one of the key takeaways from last night’s discussion was understanding the patience and the barriers for pedestrian-related changes.
He said that he doesn’t expect this to be a one-and-done session as there will be further opportunities for people to contribute.
