The Steelers will restructure tight end Pat Freiermuth’s contract, converting salary to signing bonus, which can be prorated over the remaining term of his deal and save the team up to $5.26 million in salary cap space.
Steelers seventh round draft pick Eli Heidenreich graduated from the Naval Academy on Saturday and is now Second Lieutenant Heidenreich, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Joining him as a fellow graduate with the same Marine Corp rank is fullback Alex Tecza, who was Heidenreich’s high school teammate at Mount Lebanon and at Navy, and has signed as an undrafted free agent with the Steelers.
