Aaron Rodgers didn’t hint that the upcoming Steelers season would be his last…he said it directly. “This is it,” he said about his 22nd season in the NFL. Rodgers also offered some insight into his decision-making process and said he was the one who suggested to the Steelers that they talk to Mike McCarthy about becoming the head coach, replacing Mike Tomlin.
He said he had a real sense of déjà vu after his first team meeting with McCarthy.
Last year, Rodgers didn’t sign with the Steelers until after OTAs had ended. This year, he signed on Monday and practiced the same day. He says it was important to him to participate in the OTAs to develop the timing and relationship with his receivers.
Rodgers is happy to be with his teammates, but he says there is one thing he truly looks forward to…
Tackle Broderick Jones did not participate in team activities but did work in the individual drills yesterday. He said afterward that there is no timeline for his return from spinal fusion surgery, but the team is monitoring his recovery day-to-day and they’ll just “go from there.”
