Reigning state Class 4A baseball champion Indiana takes on Derry today in the WPIAL semifinals, with a trip to the championship game and a possible rematch with last year’s other finalist, Elizabeth Forward, on the line. Indiana is 16-4 and the top seed in the 4A bracket. Derry is 9-9 and came into the tournament as the 13th seed. They have played each other twice this season, with Indiana winning both games last month, 8-2 and 10-3.
The WPIAL has denied our petition to air the game on Renda Digital TV. It will be heard on WDAD beginning at 3:45 from Plum High School.
In the District 6 playoffs, there have been a couple of schedule adjustments in the Class A baseball brackets. The Northern Cambria/Claysburg-Kimmel semifinal has been moved up a day to Thursday at 4:30 PM at Northern Cambria. Homer-Center’s semifinal at Juniata Valley has been moved up, too, from 4 PM to 2 PM on Friday. Both games will be on Renda Digital TV.
Also on tomorrow’s schedule on Renda Digital TV: Top seed West Shamokin’s softball semifinal against West Branch.
