A man convicted of killing his former girlfriend in Westmoreland County is asking for a new trial.
Thomas Stanko was found guilty of first-degree murder back in February in the death of Cassandra Gross. Gross was reported missing in 2018 and has since been declared dead though her body was never found. Stanko’s attorney has now filed paperwork asking that the guilty verdict be thrown out and a new trial ordered.
A hearing on the appeal is scheduled for next month.
