Pfc. John A. Walko of Commodore, 20 year old World War II soldier, died during combat on October 20, 1944 in Aachen, Germany. His re-patriated remains have been returned home to Indiana County where his family has made arrangements for his funeral services.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 19th from 5 to 7 PM with a Parastas service to follow at seven o’clock at Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory, 965 Philadelphia St., Indiana.
A second visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 9 to 10 AM, with funeral service starting at ten o’clock at Christ Our Savior Orthodox Church, Tanoma Road, Indiana. The Very Reverend Archpriest, George Mitchell, officiant.
Burial with full military honors will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Indiana, where Pfc. Walko will be laid to rest next to his parents, Charles and Matrona Walko and his brother, Samuel Walko.
