The Pirates went 3-3 on their western road trip to Phoenix and San Francisco. Tonight, they are back home at PNC Park.
Joe Block previews the pitching matchup for the series opener against Colorado.
While the Pirates will be focused on the Rockies tonight, the team will also keep an anxious eye eastward on Route 22 in Altoona, where Jared Jones takes the mound for the Curve in his third rehab start, against the Harrisburg Senators. Jones threw three innings for Bradenton in his first start and then three at Indianapolis last Wednesday. He will likely throw around sixty pitches tonight. Director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk has said the Pirates want Jones to be able to throw ninety pitches and six innings before he returns to the Pirates.
It’s a rare seven-game series for the Curve and the Senators, as they will play a doubleheader on Thursday to make up for a game that was rained out earlier in the season.
