IUP softball tied a program record for wins Friday, but saw its PSAC Tournament run end in the semifinals.
The Crimson Hawks opened the day with a 2-1 win over West Chester, securing their 38th victory of the season—matching the 2010 and 2011 teams for the most in program history. Junior Kendall Young tossed a complete game, allowing one run, while IUP’s defense played error-free behind her. Trailing in the sixth, the Hawks rallied, tying the game on an RBI single from Jess Cekada before Sydni Hoobler delivered the go-ahead RBI triple. IUP later fell to East Stroudsburg 7-3 in an elimination game. The Warriors scored six early runs, and a late rally by the Hawks came up short. The Crimson Hawks now await their postseason fate.
