IUP baseball’s PSAC championship run came to an end Friday with a 6-2 loss to defending champion West Chester in the semifinals.
The top-ranked Golden Rams held the Crimson Hawks to just three hits. Starter Kyle Lazer went six innings before reliever Luke Raho shut the door, striking out six of nine batters and allowing no hits. Cameron Copple took the loss for IUP, giving up three runs in three innings, while the Hawks used seven pitchers. West Chester built a 5-0 lead through four innings. IUP answered in the fifth with an RBI single from Anthony Diodata and added another run in the frame.
Diodata, Erik Rhodes, and Camden Rhude had IUP’s only hits.
The Crimson Hawks now await their postseason fate after dropping out of the regional rankings.
