Listeners of our classic hits station, WDAD, may notice a new source for national news.
Starting today, the station is now carrying NBC News. This comes after CBS announced in late March of this year that it is shutting down its storied radio news service after nearly 100 years, with the final report scheduled for Friday, May 22nd. The decision is part of a restructuring and layoffs due to economic pressures and changing audience habits.
WDAD, who celebrated its 80th anniversary last year, carried CBS news for the entirety of its time on air, all the way back to its founding in 1945.
CBS will remain a major, active television network, producing and broadcasting extensive news related content.
