Allegheny Health Network is updating its LifeFlight fleet with new helicopters, the first of which will be unveiled today, and residents could soon see it flying over Indiana County.
The ribbon cutting and unveiling will be held at 12:30 today at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
The new H145 D3 medical transport helicopter is the first of its class in the state and among the most advanced air medical helicopters operating in the U.S..
This is the first of four such helicopters that will be added to the fleet, which is being funded by a $55 million investment. AHN says that the new machine will be in operation this month.
For nearly 50 years, AHN LifeFlight has been a vital resource, providing critical air medical transport services for patient care across western Pennsylvania, including here in Indiana County.
