With his 1,000th career hit, Bryan Reynolds joined Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell, Dave Parker, and Andrew McCutchen as the only Pirates ever to have 1,000 hits, 200 doubles, and 140 home runs. Reynolds had two hits last night. And Spencer Horwitz hit his first career triple.
Third baseman Nick Gonzalez left the game after being hit in the hand by a pitch in the eighth inning.
JARED JONES UPDATE
In his second rehab start a year after having elbow surgery, Jared Jones pitched three innings yesterday for Indianapolis, giving up one run on five hits, with a walk and two strikeouts. He threw 54 pitches, 35 of them strikes, and his four-seamer averaged 98.8 miles per hour, hitting 100.1 in the first inning.
ALTOONA
Altoona took a 19-4 beating from Chesapeake. The only pitcher not to give up a run for the Curve was catcher Shawn Ross, who threw a scoreless eighth inning. Lonnie White had two hits, including his first Double-A home run for Altoona, and Keiner Delgado and Duce Gourson both had two hits.
