The Penguins have signed forward Connor Dewar to a two-year contract extension and defenseman Ilya Solovyov to a one-year deal. Both were pending free agents.
Dewar, recorded a career high of thirty points, with career-best totals of fourteen goals, sixteen assists, and a plus/minus of plus-sixteen in the 2025-26 season. He led all Penguins forwards in plus/minus and was third on the team overall. He also scored two goals in the Pens’ first-round playoff loss to the Flyers.
Dewar also led the Pens’ forwards in total shorthanded time on ice (209:23) and shorthanded ice-time on a per-game basis (2:41), and he was one of six Penguins to score a shorthanded goal, while he led the forwards with 144 hits, which was third on the team.
Dewar’s two-year contract extension runs through the 2027-28 campaign and his contract carries an average annual value of $2.25 million.
Solovyov’s one-year contract extension runs through the 2026-27 season and carries an average annual value of $850,000. The 25-year-old played in 30 NHL games this season, split between Colorado and Pittsburgh. He had a goal and two assists in sixteen games with the Avalanche and had five assists in fourteen games with the Penguins. His games played, goals, assists, and point totals were all career highs. He also made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut in 2026, skating in three games for Pittsburgh.
The Penguins acquired Solvyov from Colorado on January 26th for forward Valtteri Puustinen and a seventh round selection choice in this year’s draft.
