The Challenger Learning Center of the Central Alleghenies offered an update to visitors as part of Thursday Night’s Chamber After-Hours event at Westmoreland County Community College.
The Challenger Center’s goal is to provide unforgettable field trips and educate children in the STEM fields through simulated outer space missions. During last night’s event, Challenger Learning Center for the Alleghenies Interim CEO Ron Bush gave a tour of the building, which has some walls up and also presented an e-Mission that has been going out to classrooms in the district.

Bush also ran an e-Mission that gave attendees a peek at what area students at Indiana, Homer-Center and Purchase Line experience currently with the Challenger program. He called it a way to have everyone excited for the program in advance of the facility’s opening.
They are working on installing the simulators and acquiring a portable planetarium they can take to schools. They hope to have the facility open in early 2027.
