On the NFL Network’s The Insiders yesterday, Steelers owner Art Rooney II seemed confident that Aaron Rodgers would return to the team this season.
Having previously said he thought the Rodgers decision would have been made before last week’s NFL Draft, Rooney still is optimistic it will happen.
Rooney also said the Steelers’ decision to place a UFA tender on Rodgers was simply a procedural way to ensure they will get a compensatory draft pick should the quarterback sign elsewhere, and that they alerted Rodgers beforehand, so it’s “not a real big deal.”
