The Steelers have enacted an unrestricted free agent tender on quarterback Aaron Rodgers, which will entitle them to a compensatory draft pick in 2028 if he signs with another team. It also guarantees Rodgers a ten percent salary increase if he signs with the Steelers and gives the team sole negotiating rights with him once training camp begins in July. He can sign with any team until then.
The Steelers have also re-signed wide receiver Brandon Johnson, who played for them in 2024 and was on the practice squad for the last three games of the 2025 season before rejoining the practice squad of another of his former teams, the Denver Broncos, before the AFC championship game. The Steelers released wide receiver John Rhys Plumlee in a corresponding roster move.
