Terry Edward Swindell, 79, of New Alexandria, PA (Loyalhanna Twp.), passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026, at his home.
Born on July 4, 1946, in Bedford, Pennsylvania, Terry was the son of the late Matthew I. and Catherine (Gamble) Swindell.
Terry worked as a mechanical designer. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he received the Purple Heart award and the Orange Heart award.
He was a member of the Pleasant Unity United Methodist Church, and he was a lifetime member of VFW, Post 33, Greensburg. In his spare time, he loved hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Ruthie E. (Clawson) Swindell; children, Teresa D. Wentzel (David) of Greensburg and Matthew F. Swindell of Greensburg; and siblings, Sandra Menchio of Westmoreland City, Larry Swindell (Zeni) of Tucson, Arizona, and Catherine Weis of Greensburg.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Thelma Kistner and brother, Kenneth Booth.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10 to 11 AM at the Pleasant Unity United Methodist Church, 4685 Rt 981, Latrobe, PA. A memorial service will be held in the church at 11 AM with Pastor Jason Schweinberg and Reverend Larry Coltura officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Wildlife Works, Inc, PO Box 113, Youngwood, PA.
