The Indiana Area School Board will meet tomorrow night, and on the agenda is the elimination of six teaching positions, plus “building substitutes”, and the driver’s education program. Each of the full-time teaching positions would represent an estimated cost savings of $135,000 for the district and the substitute positions would save an estimated $70,000. Cutting the driver’s ed program would save $40,000.
There is also a recommendation for an athletic cost reduction plan.
The board will also vote on a real estate tax rate to be included in the tentative budget, which is scheduled for presentation on May 11th. There will also be a vote on the meal plan, which will not increase in the next school year.
River Valley’s board will hold a committee meeting on Wednesday. Homer-Center’s Academic Committee meets on Wednesday as well.
