Drivers in Indiana County should expect lane restrictions this week as PennDOT continues work aimed at improving roadway safety.
The agency says a high friction surface treatment is being applied on portions of Routes 422, 119, 954, and 553 through April 23rd.
Work will take place weekdays from 7 in the morning until 7 at night, with single lane restrictions in several areas, including Route 422 near Yellow Creek Campground, Route 119 near Sleepy Hollow Road, and Route 954 near the Rose Bud Lowery Mine. Officials say the schedule is weather dependent.
PennDOT explains the treatment involves applying aggregate to the roadway surface using a special binder, which increases tire grip and helps improve vehicle control in both wet and dry conditions.
The nearly 2-million-dollar project spans multiple counties in the region, and officials are urging drivers to use caution and check 511PA for the latest travel conditions.
