Pennsylvania’s Attorney General has issued a statement on a recent ruling concerning Live Nation and its subsidiary TicketMaster’s antitrust jury trial.
The initial complaint from 2024 claimed that Live Nation monopolized the industry by controlling ticketing, concert booking, venues and promotions. The lawsuit alleged the company engaged in “anticompetitive conduct,” causing fans to pay higher fees, giving artists fewer options for touring and coercing venues to use Ticketmaster. The jury delivered the verdict on Wednesday after around five weeks of trial.
Attorney General Dave Sunday joined a coalition of states in pursuing the lawsuit. He called the verdict, “a huge win for consumers, as a jury has agreed with our position that these two mega companies have essentially had a stranglehold on a multi-billion-dollar industry that limited Pennsylvanians’ options for enjoying their favorite artists.” He added that he was proud of the work his office put in to assist the bipartisan coalition that continued the case after a recent settlement agreement.
