The Penguins will face the cross-state rival Philadelphia Flyers in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs after the Flyers beat Carolina, 3-2 in a shootout last night, clinching third place in the Metro Division. The Pens and Flyers have split four games this season, with both of the Flyers’ wins coming in shootouts, including the last time they played, on March 7th.
It will be the eighth time the two teams have played in the playoffs, with the Flyers holding a 4-3 edge, but the Penguins having won three of the last four series they’ve played, including the last time, in 2018, when the Penguins won 4 games to 2. The series begins on Saturday in Pittsburgh, but the NHL has not announced a gametime yet.
The Penguins will close the regular season tonight in St. Louis against the Blues. Airtime is 8:30 with faceoff at 9:30 on 92.5 FM U92.
