SOFTBALL
Homer-Center played two games Friday in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and they won one and lost one. In the first game, the Wildcats’ Khylee Beer hit her third inside-the-park home run in two days, and also tripled in a 7-5 win over Manchester, Ohio. Homer-Center erased a 5-4 deficit with a three-run seventh, highlighted by RBI singles by Bekah Marshall, Taicha Bartlebaugh, and Madison Brendlinger. Marshall and Bartlebaugh each had two hits. In their second game, the Wildcats were beaten by Poland Seminary, another Ohio school, 15-0. Homer-Center was outhit, 17-1, with their lone hit being a single by Lydia Kovac. The Wildcats return to Heritage Conference play on Monday, hosting Marion Center.
Preslee Campbell drove in five runs to lead the United softball team past Conemaugh Township 13-2 on Friday. Karrie Yoder had two hits. United altogether had 10 hits on the day. Riley, Andie Hunsberger, and Lily Zern each collected one hit for C-T and the team accumulated five walks. In the second half of the double-header, United lost to West Shamokin 11-0. United was held to one hit from Ella Worthington.
Indiana beat Freeport 3-2 in section play. Samantha Martin came in in relief and got the win. She also went 2-3 at the plate. Rylin Blystone was 3-4. Next game is Monday at home against Derry.
BASEBALL
Homer-Center lost to Bishop McCort 14-4 in six innings. Bishop Mccort jumped out to a 7-0 lead over the first two innings and didn’t look back. The wildcats were limited to six hits from Braden Rado, who had three, Nash Budner, Dom Shimko and Drew Fisher. HC is 4-4 and will travel to Glendale on Monday for a non conference game.
