Brooke K. Smith-Stiffler, 32, of Shelocta, passed away at home peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, April 2, 2026, after a five-year courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was born on April 8, 1993, in Indiana to James and Joann Smith. Brooke recently worked for St. Andrew’s and IRMC as a CNA. She loved animals, the outdoors, riding 4-wheelers, playing pool, hunting and fishing, but most of all spending time with her friends and family.
Brooke was preceded in death by her father Jim Smith on August 23, 2014, maternal grandparents Joseph and Louise (Zona) Csanyi, brother Josh Erb, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Surviving Brooke is her mother Joann (Csanyi-Shankle) Smith, sister Vicki Kilgore of Elderton, sister Angela (Daniel III) McCauley, of TN; niece and nephew Lilly and Brayden Kilgore, and BaiLee and Daniel, IV McCauley, paternal grandparents John and Carol Smith, of South Bend, aunt Denise (Joe) Ciako, uncle Denny (Sherry) Csanyi, uncle Jeff (Sharon) Smith, uncle Doug (Margaret) Smith, special friend Lucas Ricks, fur babies Ace, Taco, Figaro, and Kobie, as well as many cousins and friends.
Friends will be received by the family on Monday, April 6, 2026, in the Bowser Minich Funeral Home, from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 6:00 PM with Pastor Mel Masengale as Celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor and memory of Brooke, to the Indiana County Humane Society or to Four Footed Friends.
