Finally home after a five-game road swing, the Penguins had the day off yesterday. They’ll practice today in preparation for back-to-back games tomorrow and Sunday against Winnipeg and Carolina.
Avery Hayes has had trouble cracking the lineup for the Penguins since the Olympic break, so the rookie forward was assigned yesterday to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Hayes scored two goals in his NHL debut February 5th in a win over Buffalo, but has not scored a goal in the ten games he’s played since. He’s been a healthy scratch the last two games.
Veteran defenseman Ryan Graves has been recalled from his conditioning assignment. He scored a goal in two games with Wilkes. At the NHL level, he is still on injured reserve with an undisclosed ailment.
