A Mount Pleasant man is accused of paying money to people overseas to make disturbing videos of animals being harmed.
Federal prosecutors say Joseph Garrett Buckland was involved with a group of people online who watched and discussed videos of monkeys being tortured. Buckland and others pooled their money and made payments to someone in Indonesia, asking them to produce videos of a monkey being graphically injured, according to officials.
Buckland is being criminally charged in federal court.
