A man charged with burning down a house in North Mahoning Township in 2025 pleaded guilty but mentally ill to five counts in Indiana County Court on Friday.
According to Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi, 58-year-old Troy Kromer of Punxsutawney entered that plea to charges of arson, reckless burning, criminal mischief, risking a catastrophe and dangerous burning for the incident on January 13th of 2025. State police said that he set a fire at a house on Smith Road and he told his family that he had “five more houses to burn”. When police took him into custody, he said he did it because of “dragons” and that God told him to do it.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 16th.
