New Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O’Connor is echoing the sentiments of the Gainey Administration when it comes to ICE agents in the Steel City.
O’Connor says the local government and city law enforcement will keep up Gainey’s policy of not offering assistance to immigration officers as he settles into the office. O’Connor says he wants immigrants in Pittsburgh to feel safe when contacting local emergency services, and a partnership with ICE would compromise that.
The statements come after the incident in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning, when an ICE agent fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good.
