PARADES, LUNCHEONS, CONCERT ON TAP FOR VETERANS DAY

Several events are on the schedule today to pay tribute to the veterans who served our country.

Starting at 8:00 this morning, the Indiana Elks Lodge on South 13^th Street will hold a veterans breakfast.  The breakfast will be free to all vets.  The breakfast is expected to wrap up around 10:00 AM so that Lodge members can take part in today’s parade in Indiana.  Veterans who need a lift to the parade route will be able to take a van provided by the Elks.

Indiana’s Veterans Day parade will step off at 10:45 this morning.  The parade will start with a canon volley fired, and will take the traditional route from 5^th Street to the Indiana County Courthouse.  The parade will pause at 11:00 for the playing of Taps and the National Anthem.  We’ll have coverage of the Indiana parade starting around 10:45 this morning on Renda Digital TV.  The video player can be found on our Renda Media websites.

The Blairsville Veterans Day parade will start at 10:30 this morning at Ernie Widmar Field and head down Market Street towards the Veterans Memorial, where a solemn ceremony will be held after the parade is over.  Blairsville VFW Post 5821 will hold a flag-raising ceremony at noon, followed by a luncheon for vets starting at 1:00 PM.

And tonight, The Blairsville Concert Band will host a Veterans day concert at the River Valley High School Auditorium at 7:00.  Admission is free, but they will accept donations.
