Leaders with Pittsburgh Public Schools are implementing some money saving measures as the state budget stalemate continues in Harrisburg, delaying education funding.
PPS Superintendent Wayne Walters announced some temporary fiscal safeguards for the district yesterday. Hiring for all positions besides teachers and paraprofessionals is frozen for right now.
The school system is also halting all non-essential purchases, including those made on district credit cards.
