This weekend is the Knotweed festival in Blairsville, and as it has expanded to two days, police are saying there will be some additional road closures in effect.
Tonight is what is known as the “Knotweed Pre-Game” which will start around 6:00 with various musical performances headlined by Scott, Greg and Rob from The Clarks along with a fireworks display to follow at dark. For tonight, the following roads are closed:
- South Water Street from West Market to West Brown
- West Brown from South Water to the Parking Entrance to the Amphitheater
- South Liberty Street from West Market to West Brown
- North Water Street from West Campbell to the Kelly Park Parking area
- West North Avenue from South Liberty to North Water
- A taped-off area above Kelly Park due to the fireworks
Road closures are also in effect for Saturday starting at 7:45 for:
- West Market Street from Spring to Water
- South Water Street from West Market to West Brown
- West Brown Street from Water to South Liberty
- South Liberty Street from West Brown to West Market
- North Liberty Street from West Market to West Campbell
- West Sugar Alley from North Spring to North Water
There will also be no parking along West Market Street from Spring Street to Water Street that day. Also, East and West Market Street will be closed at 10:00 for a parade with two starting points: Grandview Avenue and Bentley Drive. There will be no parking in those areas during the parade.
