The Pirates made no selections and no Bucs prospects were taken in baseball’s Major League portion of the Rule 5 draft, but there was plenty of action in the Minor League draft. The Pirates chose five players from other organizations and lost three of their own.
Gone from the Bucs’ system are catcher Dylan Shockley, who was taken by Atlanta, pitcher Darvin Garcia, selected by the Red Sox, and shortstop Isaias Dipre, a Dominican Summer Leaguer who was drafted by the Phillies.
The Pirates skipped the first round of the draft and took pitcher Franck De La Rosa from the A’s, pitchers Randy Labaut and Steve Hajjar from the Guardians, catcher Aaron McKeithan from the Cardinals, and outfielder Joel Mendez from the Yankees.
The Pirates also announced the complete 2025 schedule, with game times and promotions. The home opener will be April 4th at 4:12 PM against the Yankees.

The Red Sox made the biggest move yesterday acquiring All-Star pitcher Garrett Crochet from the White Sox in exchange for four minor league prospects.
