The suspect arrested Monday for last week’s killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on the streets of New York is facing multiple charges including murder.
As far as a motive, NYPD Chief Joseph Kenny says Luigi Mangione had writings on him at the time of his arrest.
Investigators are looking into Mangione’s social media postings including the image of an x-ray of a surgery and past writings including one referencing the Unabomber. His social media profiles seem to suggest he lost touch with family and friends in recent months.
Mangione was arrested at a McDonald’s restaurant in Altoona late yesterday afternoon after an employee and a customer identified him. He is awaiting extradition to New York for a preliminary hearing.
