BOYS GOLF
Three Indiana High golfers made the field for the WPIAL boys golf finals yesterday during individual Section qualifying at Birdsfoot Golf Club in Freeport. With a target score of 81 for the 18 holes, Ryan Bell shot a 78 to lead the way, with Chace Force a stroke behind at 79 and Drew Brocious shooting 80. They’ll play in the first round of the WPIAL Finals on Tuesday at Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg, with the top 36 moving on to play at historic Oakmont Country Club on October 1st.
The Indiana boys will play in the Team Championship semifinals on October 8th at Champion Lakes Golf Course, between Bolivar and Ligonier.
GIRLS GOLF
River Valley’s girls got a win and their first loss of the season yesterday in a tri-match against Central Cambria and Altoona at Chestnut Ridge. Playing an 18-hole format, River Valley bested Central Cambria 295-316 but lost by just four strokes to Altoona, which shot a team score of 291. River Valley’s Maren Dunlap was medalist against Central Cambria, with a 91, while Altoona’s Ellie Filer had the low score of the day, an 88 for overall medalist.
The Panthers’ Alessia LaMantia shot 98, and Madigan Dunlap and Sara Bollinger each shot 106.
River Valley will play in the Heritage Conference Championship this Thursday at Mannito Golf Club.
VOLLEYBALL
Indiana keeps it rolling on the volleyball floor, with a dominating 3-0 road shutout of McKeesport. The Indiana girls were never threatened, taking the sets 25-15, 25-10, 25-14. Paige Fisanich had 8 kills and 3 aces. Stella Stossel had 10 kills, Addie Stossel had 5 kills and 3 aces, and Hannah Cowburn had 30 assists. Indiana is 5-1, 5-0 in AAA Section 5.
BOYS SOCCER
Indiana edged Hampton, 1-0.
