Mildred M. Grove, 96, of Indiana, passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Mildred was the wife of the late E. Raymond “Bud” Grove Jr, who passed in March of 2017. The couple were wed on February 25, 1950.
A daughter of the late Torrance B. and Grace Z. (Coy) Shaffer, she was born June 5, 1928, in Indiana.
Mildred was a graduate of Indiana High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed baking and was known for her delicious pies. She also enjoyed bus trips to the casinos. As an avid seamstress, she made her own clothes for many years. One of her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons: Gerald R. Grove and wife Diana, of Creekside; Daniel Grove and wife Amy, of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren: Lindsey Grove and fiancé Dan Daugherty, Timothy Grove and Emily McIntire and husband David; two great grandchildren: Benjamin McIntire and Olivia McIntire; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, E. Raymond Grove Jr., six siblings: Margaret Shaffer, Wayne Shaffer, Helen St. Clair, Jean Copeland, Jay Shaffer and Robert Shaffer.
Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at Robinson-Lytle-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 36 N 7th Street, Indiana, with the Rev. Ben Blowers officiating. Private interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
