A lot of buildings that were closed on the IUP campus last week will be open again tomorrow. They were closed for the Summer Utilities Savings Program, with employees and services operating remotely.
The Summer Utilities Savings Program is designed to cut the costs of having buildings open for the fourteen weeks from the end of the spring semester to the beginning of fall activities. This year, it’s in effect from May 13th to August 16th. The affected buildings are closed each Friday through the period.
With a similar program operating during the winter break, IUP has been able to save about $500,000 annually since beginning the program in 2022.
